The Too Easy: a collection of not overly convoluted, not overly worked upon fragments



On privilege, on taking precedence. The Meiji Emperor languidly contemplates some peasants toiling in the paddy fields under a relentless sun: ‘I can not say it is hot/Even if this is the case.’ The capacity for empathy is revealed through the act of ceding all right of complaint to the Other. And yet, this too is a means for seizing control, even of that which has been let go.
